THE PIONEER BAND
OF ALLENTOWN
WELCOMES YOU
Preserving the Great American Concert Band Tradition
A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTOR
The Pioneer Band has concluded a successful and busy 2024 season with more
than 30 performances. As we are in a new year, we are preparing for what we hope will
be another successful year in 2025.
In March the Pioneer Band will play a concert to commemorate National
Women’s Month. As this is a concert performed in March, we will also include music
with an Irish flavor. April in National Jazz month and the band will feature a program that includes
music of Dixieland and the Big Bands. As always, we will play concerts at West Park in Allentown this summer. Our themes will be our popular Children’s Concert featuring music for the young
or the young at heart. Our Patriotic Concert will feature a program of All-American music.
And as always, we will close our season with our Pop’s Concert,
featuring music the Beatles, ABBA, the Eagles, and others.
However, the 2025 summer season will kick off with a 50-year anniversary concert. In
1975 I joined the Marine Band of Allentown and was chosen to conduct the Pioneer
Band in 2012, making this my fiftieth year performing with the community bands of
Allentown. For this concert I have chosen some my favorite compositions, but, also at
this concert, the Pioneer band will honor of its 7 members who have played with the
band for 50 years or longer. They have also chosen their favorite selections to play at
this concert. Those musicians to be honored are MaryAnn Amole – 53 years, Dale
Campbell – 50 years, Linda Campbell – 52 years, Matthew Cascioli - 53 years, Randy
Kohler - 54 years, Wayne Nottle – 59 years, and John Racek - 59 years.
We hope to see you at our concerts!
