The leaves are changing colors, and frost is in the air, as the Pioneer Band closes out a very successful 2026 concert season. The band played more than 25 performances this season and now, it is time to gear up for the 2027 season.
We call this 2027, THE YEAR OF THE OVERTURE.
I love overtures, but to program an entire concert of them would overwhelm both the audience and the band. That is why this year we will begin each of our concerts with one famous overture. After the overtures we will hear the following:
THE JAZZ CONCERT
I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, A tribute to Dolly Parton. DAVE BRUBECK, A PORTRAIT IN TIME, A TRIUBUTE TO THE COUNT, SINATRA IN CONCERT, BILL BAILEY, ST. LOUIS BLUES MARCH, and A selection from our Dixieland Band
THE CHILDREN’S CONCERT
THE WILLIAM TELL OVERTURE, DISNEY MOVIE MAGIC, MARY POPPINS, MOANA, BRAVE, FROZEN, CHRONICLES OF NARIA, and BEAUTY AND THE BEAST
Again, the kids will have an opportunity to both conduct and play with the band.

AT THE MOVIES – THE CLASSICS, STRIKE UP THE BAND, I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN, SUPERMAN, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, HOLLYWOOD MILESTONES, MOON RIVER, and ROBIN HOOD, PRINCE OF THIEVES
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS, BLUES FOR SANTA, A CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL, THE MOUNTAINS ECHOED GLORIA, CHRISTMAS MORNING, SYMPHONIC PRELUDE ON ADESTE FIDELIS, LIGHT IT UP, and MERRY CHRISTMAS DARLING.
THE POP’S CONCERT
FIGHT SONG, AFRICA, MOTOWN REVUE, POP AND ROCK LEGENDS: THE ASSOCIATION, QUEEN IN CONCERT, ROLLING STONE MAGICAL TOUR, SYMPHONC BEATLES, THE GENIUS OF RAY CHARLES, HUEY LEWIS INC CONCERT, and PRICE IN CONCERT.
Our Patriotic concert will pay tribute to our soldiers in chronological order. Starting with the fight for independence, we will play the AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR MEDLEY. The civil war will be honored with THE BLUE AND THE GRAY. Then there is a medley of WWI songs called ECHOES FROM THE BATTLEFIELD. Next, we honor those from WWII with THE HOMEFRONT: MUSICAL MEMORIES OF WWII. Finally we honor all veterans with ARMED FORCES 72.
